Verifies medical justification of invoices
Pre-certifies procedures and uses second opinions where appropriate
Applies reasonable and customary cost limits
Negotiates reductions with hospitals and major providers
Performs case management of chronic illnesses, hospitalizations,
  and major medical problems

Performs statistical monitoring of claims and cost control recommendations
